AI Voice in Sales Meetings: When 'Listening' Has to Actually Work
What breaks voice AI in real calls?
Permissions, latency, and silent failures.
Reps join from laptops with muted mics, browsers that blocked capture last week, or VPNs
that interfere with WebRTC. On the AI side, heavy tool loops can block the voice path —
fine for async chat, fatal when a CEO is waiting mid-sentence. Salestrics addressed both:
mic enabled on /ai/*, camera and mic on /call/*, real error
messages when Connect join or signaling fails, and a faster direct path for executive
meetings so responses are not stuck behind multi-step tool execution.
When should you use voice versus chat?
Voice for live judgment; chat for audit trails.
- Pipeline reviews — voice when the team is on a Connect call and wants hands-free drill-down.
- Executive panels — Digital Executives with governance, pause/resume, and deduplicated sessions.
- Follow-up — let Assistant capture the written summary after; voice is for the moment, not the system of record.
Pair live voice with the sales meeting follow-up playbook so what was said becomes tasks on the record.
Prep checklist before an AI-heavy call
- Join from Chrome or Edge with mic tested on the Connect preflight screen.
- Confirm org app permissions include Connect for every participant who needs video.
- Keep executive voice questions scoped — one account or one metric per turn beats ten-part prompts.
- If the AI shows Planning approach, read the steps — that is the model choosing tools before it speaks.
What improved under the hood
AI V3 meeting voice fixes stuck Listening states. Executive meetings bypass heavy tool loops when a direct answer path is available. Digital Executives gained session deduplication and insight dedup so repeat meetings do not spawn duplicate briefings. Situation Room events now persist in the database — collaboration history survives refresh, not just memory.
Details are in Changelog #11. For async intelligence, see Salestrics AI and Connect meetings.
